The Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership has a clear goal of helping to grow the next generation of leaders for Ireland and Northern Ireland. However, leadership today is a global experience and many other countries, apart from Ireland, have great needs for their younger generation to experience leadership in an international setting. Inspired by WIP alums, this outreach is called The South Africa Washington-Ireland Program or SAWIP. It's an idea that WIP has discussed since 2004.
